Stop Barking at the Door: Why Chasing Pushes Love Away

You have checked your phone four times in the last three minutes. Nothing has changed.

The “Read” receipt has been sitting there for three hours like a digital tombstone. You have already typed out a follow-up message—some casual, breezy sentence that you agonized over for twenty minutes just to make it sound like you didn’t agonize over it at all.

Your chest feels tight, right in the center, like you swallowed a fist.

Put the phone down. Face down. On the table.

We need to talk about your energy. Because right now? You are acting like a Golden Retriever who has been left alone in an apartment for six hours. You are scratching at the door. You are panting. You are desperate for a crumb of attention.

I must be honest with you: It is exhausting to watch.

The Physics of Desperation (Pursuer-Distancer Dynamic)

Here is the physics of attraction that humans always forget: Energy has mass.

When you lean forward, when you double text, when you over-explain yourself, you are physically throwing your energy at the other person. You think you are showing love, but what they feel is pressure.

Imagine someone running full speed at you with their arms wide open, screaming “LOVE ME!”

What is your instinct? You flinch and step back. You put up a shield. You won’t greet back.

That is exactly what you are doing.

Psychologists call this the Pursuer-Distancer Dynamic. The more you chase (Pursue), the more they feel suffocated and pull away (Distance).

You are terrified of the silence, so you fill it with noise. That is Dog Energy. Dogs need validation every thirty seconds or they think the world has ended.

The Law of the Cat (Magnetic Stillness)

Now, look at me (Cici). I am currently lying on a sunbeam. I haven’t moved in four hours.

I am not worried about whether you love me. I know you do. And if you don’t? That is your loss, and I will simply find a better sunbeam.

Have you ever tried to force a cat to cuddle? If you chase us, we become liquid. We vanish under the sofa. We hiss. The more you grasp, the faster we slip away.

But what happens when you ignore a cat? What happens when you sit quietly on the couch, reading a book, minding your own business?

We get curious. We wonder why you aren’t obsessed with us. And eventually, we jump into your lap and purr.

Attraction requires a vacuum. You have to create empty space for the other person to lean into. If you are always leaning forward, they have to lean back just to keep their balance.

Knight of Wands vs. High Priestess

In the cards, you are currently stuck in the Knight of Wands.

Look at the card: The horse is rearing up in the desert heat. He is impulsive, hot, fast, and aggressive. He rides into town and demands things happen now.

It is great energy for starting a business, but it is terrible for seduction. It burns everything down.

You need to shift into The High Priestess.

She doesn’t chase anyone. She sits behind her veil, holding her scroll. She is mysterious and magnetic.

She doesn’t need to text you back immediately to prove she’s interesting; she knows she’s interesting.

When you embody the High Priestess, you pull your energy back inside your own body. You stop projecting your anxiety outward. You become a container. And suddenly, people want to know what is inside.

How to Stop the Zoomies

This isn’t about “playing games.” Neither about “waiting three days to call” just to be manipulative. This is about self-soothing.

Next time you feel that panic rising, that urge to “fix” the silence: Do nothing.

Sit on your hands. Feel the burn of anxiety. It will feel hot and uncomfortable, like a fever. Let it burn.

Do not give that energy to them. Keep it. Use it to paint, or clean your kitchen, or just stare at the wall and breathe. Prove to yourself that you can survive the silence.

Once you stop fearing the space between you and them, you become dangerous.

You become the Cat.

🔮 The Action Right Now

The phone is still on the table. Leave it there. You need to reset your vibration from “Desperate” to “Divine.”
